So, it looks like it’s going to happen: The Revs will re-sign Pat Noonan and trade him to the Crew for some draft picks and a move up the allocation list. Seems like a good deal to me. The draft picks are less important than the allocation (drafting being a notoriously uneven prospect in MLS), and the deal gives the Crew a proven, if oft-injured, striker to pair with Moreno. Think of it this way: the Crew are good for the first time in years, and they are well-served to do what they can to make this season a success, rather than being happy to limp into the playoffs. After all, can we really be sure that we’ll be competitive next year? Carpe diem, etc. Anyway, I’m excited and hope that Noonan can stay healthy.
